Post Pandemic Anxiety: Is this you?

Trouble sleeping, an anticipation of doom, feeling nervous, increased heart rate, an overwhelming feeling of exhaustion, comfort eating or drinking, reluctance to socialise? These, and more, are all common with the feeling of anxiety and feature often in my discussions with clients and are understandable after the last 18 months.

Although most of my coaching clients are Executives, the above symptoms seem to be prevalent across the board, covering all ages and genders – including within my own extended family and friends.

Anxiety, without doubt, can be debilitating – it does and will affect the workplace. It is something that is hard to discuss and admit to oneself let alone an employer. I forecast there will be a lot of lost hours and sick leave unless employers and employees discuss and establish safety nets and support. In particular, as we return to an office environment and some version of normality.

Listening and empathy are key to helping - as is the ability to identify and guide staff who are suffering or exhibiting signs of anxiety. Now could be the time to invest in an external Coach who can provide the support required, identify and guide staff in the right direction, build self-esteem and confidence whilst retaining confidentiality.
