Nurturing Sustainability In Your Career
Sustainable: able to be maintained at a certain rate or level. (definition, Oxford dictionary)
The question is, how much do we invest to maintain and grow our careers? Most people I have interviewed would say the investment they have made would be hard work, developing a great network, committing to long hours and compromising their work life balance, correct governance, training and building their own brand whilst maintaining corporate identity.
So, in 2021, is the above sustainable or is there a better way to take control of our destiny?
Still working hard, controlling our work/life balance (probably more challenging than ever) having adapted to remote working during the pandemic and now moving towards either going back into an office environment or a hybrid version. Re-establishing face-to-face relationships within our teams and hierarchy, training or re-training but, also investing time with a coach and or a mentor.
A Coach is someone who can help achieve goals and ambitions - a listener, a sense checker, a reminder of “ones true North” in a safe and confidential environment. A Coach can help an individual recognise core competencies, understand development needs, the perception of others and how to maximise their potential and ensure a sustainable career.
