Be prepared for anything
I was reminded recently of the Scouts motto “Be prepared” and never has a moto been more apt for the uncertain times that we are in. When asked prepared for what, Robert Baden-Powell, 3rd Baron Baden-Powell answered, “Why for any old thing”.
With uncertain times and the “R” word being openly spoken about, the reaction most Companies have is: How can we cut costs, closely followed by reducing headcount.
So, now is the time to be prepared. Make sure your CV is up to date, that it includes all your achievements and the value of them. Don’t just add bits or cut and paste additions. Stop and think – YOUR CV is the key to your next opportunity. LinkedIn is your shop window and needs to be updated. Both have to maximise keywords and tell a powerful story.
Seek professional help! We are our own worst enemies with an ability to minimise our value. Now is the time to change that, in fact essential, as The Executive job market will be selective and challenging.
